Chelsea New Signings
Chelsea New Signings
Last season was a huge revelation in terms of numerous promotions and trust given to Chelsea Academy graduates. The likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Ricce James, to mention few, made their full representations as Chelsea senior players for a whole season.
Chelsea were unable to sign players to strengthen their squad but had to rely on their homegrown talents to secure a top four finish.
Fast forward to this season, with liberation from the transfer embargo, Chelsea have hit the ground running in the transfer market, recruiting some of the world's most brilliant football wizards across some leagues in Europe. Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, Malang Sarr, Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, the experienced Thiago Silva from PSG, and the brilliant Kai Havertz respectively.
No doubt, all things being equal, the attacking players are expected to provide numerous goalscoring opportunities resulting to loads of goals throughout the season. The experience of the versatile David Silva is hugely required to reduce the goals to be conceded by Chelsea to some appreciable level this season, whether or not that will be enough for Chelsea to clinch the EPL trophy or the second spot at the end of the season remains to be seen.
Frank Lampard has hinted he is focusing on settling the new players down and make them train in order to perform to the best of their abilities.
With more than £200M spent plus the the imminent signing of Edouard Mendy to be made, there are high level of expectations for Chelsea to perform brilliantly this season.
Kepa needs a huge competitor to pressurize and push him for for the number one spot in the goalkeeping department at Chelsea, hence, Mendy is needed for that assignment.
